It was an ugly wallpapered “M,” with some kind of metal decoration fastened to the front. It was installed outdoors at one end of their swimming pool. Each turtle represents a member of the family. I used thinset mortar to adhere the hand-cut stained & iridescent glass to construction board. The round and slightly raised bubbles and the turtles’ eyes were created in a kiln by fusing clear and iridescent glass together. The mosaic was finished with charcoal-colored grout.
